QUANTITATIVE SOURCES
Some examples:
CENSUS DATA
AREA STATISTICS (E.G. CRIME, VOTING)
MEASUREMENTS AND RESULTS
SURVEY/QUESTIONNAIRE OUTCOMES
SESSION MATERIALS
After the taught session on Quantitative Analysis, you'll be able to find session materials on Moodle. There's also a brief overview video here: Quantitative Analysis
QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS
For your quantitative analysis, you will only have to answer the questions below. The answers should still amount to 500 words in total. Refer to the relevant quantitative sources and refer back to your notes/the materials from the session on Quantitative Analysis for fuller guidance.
Quantitative Analysis portfolio questions
Does the data clearly state what population they examine?
Why is it important to know what population is being examined?
Is it explained what methodology they have used to collect the data from the population?
If they don’t explain it, why is that problematic?
If they do describe it, what methodology have they used?
Do they explain what the limitations of the study are?
If not, why is that problematic?
If they do, is it a comprehensive list of limitations?
Based on this preliminary examination of the methodology, to what extent do you think that the data are robust?
Given your estimate on how robust or problematic the data is, do you think that the conclusions that are drawn from the data can be validated? Explain why you think that.
